Obituary of Betty Johnston
Betty Ann Johnston passed away peacefully on December 27, 2022. She is survived by her loving husband, William (Bill) Nicholas Johnston; two sons William (Bill) Johnston and his wife Sharon, and Steve Johnston and his wife Heather; her adopted niece Serena; and four grandchildren, Kyle and his wife Caitlin, Katie and her husband Michael, along with two great grandchildren Luke and Grace; and Anna and Olivia. She is also survived by her siblings, Agnes Mullins, Bill Hignutt and Mike Hignutt. She also has an extensive network of nieces, nephews, and brother and sister in laws that will all miss her dearly.
Betty was a Reading Specialist and PTA President at Baltimore Highlands Elementary for many years and leaves many memories and a legacy of love. Betty was caring, open, chatty, enthusiastic and non-judgmental. She would talk to anyone. She forgave everything, and she lived her life as a good Christian should. An adamant lover of plants, animals, and all living beings, Betty would stop to assist anyone in need without hesitation. Betty strongly believed that all people were worthy of dignity and respect, as stated in Romans 12:10, “Be devoted in love and honor one another,” and Ephesians 4:32, “Be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.” To honor Betty’s memory, try to keep these in your heart and mind.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 4th from 12:15-1:00 p.m at Loudon Park Cemetery, 3620 Wilkens Ave. A Funeral service will follow from 1:00-2:00 pm followed by a Burial Service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the following charities: Ronald McDonald House Charities (rmhc.org), or The Trevor Project (thetrevorproject.org)
