Obituary of Gloria Guseman
GLORIA LEE GUSEMAN (nee SULLIVAN)
Passed away peacefully, on December 20, 2022, at the age of eighty-nine, was called home, to forever be with the Lord and her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Gloria was born on September 2,1933 to the late Graham “Sully” and Estelle “Stella” Sullivan in Baltimore, Maryland.
Since birth she was lovingly referred to as “Cookie”, by some of her dearest, to include her siblings, Robert “Bobby”, Delores “Sissy”, Charles “Joe-Butts” and Edward “Eddie”, all preceded her passing.
She was a graduate from Southern High School in Baltimore, with the class of 1951. Soon afterward, married the late Glenn L. Guseman of Fayette City, PA and had three children. Gloria was preceded by her youngest, Glenn Jr. in 1981 at the tender age of seventeen.
Gloria is survived by her daughters Patricia Ranneberger and husband Robert of Nottingham, MD and Barbara Major of Melbourne, FL, her grandchildren, Kelly and (Matthew), Michael, Jason and (Katrina), Abigail and (Joseph), Erin and (Raymond), Ryan, Victoria, and Valarie, as well as great grandchildren, Kaden, Cara, and Graham. Countless extended family and friends also mourn her loss.
Gloria retired after 27 years of service with Westinghouse Electric Corp. at BWI in 1996. She worked for Technical Publications where she had become the “unofficial” proofreader for ESSD, since she gained high regard and admiration from her superiors and colleagues alike. She loved working for Westinghouse as much as she enjoyed fellowship with her family.
Following retirement, she would often wonder how she had time for work, as her “dance card” always seemed full.
She adored gardening, attending church and Bible study, dining out with family or friends, and shopping. She enjoyed puzzles and most often noted crunching numbers to solve Sudoku. She was a generous soul, a born
giver and doer, always found at the kitchen sink during family get togethers. Forever willing to do the dirty work, go the extra mile and make sacrifice for the benefit of her family is what pleased her. She had a witty sense of humor that could brighten any day and turn a frown upside down. She always ended her farewell with the reminder, “Keep Looking Up!” as our redemption draws near with the Coming of Christ. She will be sorely missed by family, friends, and colleagues, but most deeply by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
As she wished, a short service will be held at Loudon Park Funeral Home Chapel, 3620 Wilkens Ave., Baltimore, MD 21229 on January 4, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., immediately followed by the laying of a wreath at her gravesite
at 11:00.
A private luncheon and celebration of life will follow.
