Obituary of Dorothy Reaney

Dorothy Lee Reaney (nee Rohrer), 92, of Baltimore, Maryland passed away on May 13, 2021. A memorial service will be held at St. James Episcopal Church located at 3100 Monkton Road, Monkton, MD 21111 at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14, 2021. The internment will be private. Dorothy was born in Clarksville, Pennsylvania, to Raymond Rohrer and Opal Arnold Rohrer on Nov. 23, 1928. As the second eldest of nine, Dorothy assisted her mother with household duties and younger siblings. Upon graduation from Jefferson High School, she moved to Baltimore with a friend. As a single young woman, she entered the post WWII workforce as a sales associate at a downtown department store. Later in her career, she worked for Consolidated Freightways where she ultimately retired as the Baltimore terminal office manager. On April 29, 1949, Dorothy married Harvey Edward Reaney, Jr. and raised two daughters. She was an active member in American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed baking, flower arranging and vacationing with family and friends. Dorothy is survived by her daughters Sharon Lee Muhler and husband Roger Muhler of White Hall, Maryland, and Linda Sue Riggleman and husband Butch Riggleman of Delmar, Delaware, in addition to four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, two sisters, one brother and two sisters-in-law. She predeceased her loving husband of 72 years by three weeks. Memorial donations can be made to the American Stroke Association, heart.org. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Glen Meadows Retirement Community.
